Acupuncture: This uses very fine and flexible needles to work on acupuncture points where the needle communicates with energy pathways of physiological systems and internal organs. The patient will feel heaviness, distention, tingling, and a soreness sensation with correct stimulation. This sensation may only be at the location of the needle or may travel along the energy pathway. Patients usually feel quite pleasant and relaxed. Most patients will fall into a pleasant, deep sleep during acupuncture treatment.
Electric Acupuncture: This is the use of very small electrical impulses through the acupuncture needles. The amount of power used is only a few microamperes, but the frequency of the currents can vary from 5 to 2000 HZ depending on the patient's physical condition. Most patients find the procedure painless.
Moxibustion: Moxibustion is the treatment of diseases by applying heat to acupuncture points. The material used is mainly moxa-wool in the form of a cone or stick. It can produce mild heat, which is able to penetrate deeply into the muscles. Patients usually feel a nice, relaxing, energy flowing sensation during treatment.
Cupping: Cupping is a therapy in which a metal wood or glass jar is attached to the skin surface to stimulate your body's healing process.
Heat TDP Lamp: A TDP lamp is similar to a heat lamp, however it features a round plate coated with minerals consisting of 33 elements essential to the human body. When the mineral plate is heated, it emits a special band of electromagnetic waves that coincide with the wavelengths and intensity of the electromagnetic waves released and consequently absorbed by the human body. This absorbed electromagnetic energy has been found to yield therapeutic effects on the human body by:
- Helping to generate various beneficial biochemical stimuli that
the body may lack due to illness or injury.
- Accelerating the decomposition of injured structures, such as
bad cells.
- Enhancing the body's function of adjustment and immunity.
With its relaxing, warm temperature, the TDP lamp is very effective for
temporary relief of minor muscular and joint pain and improvement of
local, superficial blood circulation.
Tui Na: A type of oriental massage along the channels or acupuncture points without needles. It is performed with the hands, fingers and an instrument with a hard ball shaped head.
There are many other acupuncture techniques than what we listed above. Each will be performed as needed to treat the individual patient's condition.
